Frequently Asked Questions About the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Baltimore Hot Yoga and Wellness
Course information including curriculum, philosophy, dates, fees, and upcoming info sessions can be found here.
What is the difference between the teacher track and the non-teacher track?
We recognize that some people are interested in the in-depth learning that a 200 hour yoga teacher training provides, but are not interested in teaching. That’s why we created a non-teacher track.
The primary difference between the two tracks is that those in the teacher track will be eligible for certification with Yoga Alliance at the completion of the training. Those in the non-teacher track will not be eligible for Yoga Alliance certification. Yoga Alliance certification is required to teach in most places and to get insurance as a teacher.
The non-teacher track includes the lecture and discussion portions of the training. Non-teacher track participants may attend practice teaching and feedback sessions with their cohort as space allows. But, they will not practice teaching nor receive one-on-one mentorship.
Please be mindful that there are a limited number of non-teacher track spaces and we expect these to fill quickly. Our primary focus is training people to teach.
What if I sign up for the non-teacher track and change my mind?
If you sign up for the non-teacher track and decide that you would like to teach, you will be responsible for making up any missed assignments and practice teaching, and paying the difference in cost of the training. (This is to cover mentorship and additional time and resources dedicated to those who plan to teach.) This option is available ONLY until the mid-point of the program.
Do you have a virtual option?
This training is in person only. We find that in-person works best to facilitate in-depth learning of the topics covered. Twice monthly check-ins may be virtual or in person (TBD).
Are there any prerequisites?
We require consistent practice in the style of yoga you plan to teach for at least one year.
Are there scholarships available?
There are two $500 scholarships available. Please contact us for more information. Those who plan to teach in communities where yoga and other mind-body wellness modalities are not widely available are encouraged to apply. Scholarships are for those in the teacher track only, and are applied to the full tuition.
Are there payment plans available?
Yes. Please contact us for more information.
Are there any additional expenses?
Each person is responsible for their own books, and attending five classes outside the studio.
What if I have to miss a session?
Attendance at all sessions is required, but we also recognize that life happens! If you must miss a session, it can be made up with an assignment or during the next training. Please be aware that there can be 1-2 years between teacher trainings.
How do I get started?
Please contact us for an application. We encourage you to join us for an information session, too! Information sessions are held periodically after registration opens. Information session dates are posted in the studio, on social media and on the teacher training page.
